Aleks Assessment: Deadline extended to Midnight Sunday 5 October.
If you are unable to take the Assessment please notify Dr. Waterman: waterman@math.niu.edu stating your
name, whose section you are in and precisely which web site is an issue.
- Make sure "cookies" are enabled:
- To enable Browser cookies in the Internet Explorer Browser:
- Select "Internet Options" from your browser's Tools Menu [this is located on the toolbar at the top left of your page, or on the toolbar menu at the top right].
- Select the "Advanced" tab.
- Click on the "Privacy" tab -- OR -- scroll down to the "Cookies" section under "Security".
- Select "medium high" under the "Privacy" tab for the "setting for the Internet Zone" -- OR -- select "Prompt before accepting cookies".
- Click "Apply" and then click "OK" until you close this dialog box.
- Make sure "popups" are enabled for Aleks:
- To enable popups in the Internet Explorer Browser:
- Select "Internet Options" from your browser's Tools Menu [this is located on the toolbar at the top left of your page, or on the toolbar menu at the top right].
- Select the "Advanced" tab.
- Click on the "Privacy" tab.
- Click on "Settings" and enable popups for www.aleks.com

Register with Aleks:
Go to the ALEKS MANUAL http://www.aleks.com/user_guides/learners-highedmath
and follow the instructions in section 3 to register at http://www.aleks.com
- Enter the Course Code when prompted:

- Enter the ACCESS CODE obtained by e-mail above.
- Take careful note of your Login Name and Password.
Using Aleks:
- Use on your Personal computer:
- Login to http://www.aleks.com using your Login Name and Password
and allow ALEKS to install the ALEKS plugin.
- Use on a Public Computer such as in the Labs:
- If you have trouble with the plugin on your pc: login to Aleks using
http://www.aleks.com/plugin
- For troubleshooting Aleks go to
http://www.aleks.com/support/troubleshooting and
note if your setup is supported.
- When you login to aleks (Not when you install the plugin!) you will be asked to take an assessment to analyze your knowledge of
College Algebra. It will take about 1 hour but can be completed over several logins. Take it seriously! It counts 100 points.
You can retake it as often as you want but ALEKS will force you to practice problems you get incorrect.
- You must complete the initial Aleks assessment by midnight Sunday 7th September.
- Your final Aleks assessment will be your score as of midnight Sunday 21st September.
- Afterward; You can use Aleks for tutoring on trigonometry until your subsciption expires.
