IEEE Plaque of Honor for Biswa Datta

Presidential Research Professor Biswa Datta was awarded an IEEE plaque of honor by IEEE IIT Kharagpur Chapter in India in appreciation of his delivering the IEEE-sponsored invited workshop on " The State-of-the-Art Computational Methods and Software for Computer-aided Control Systems Design and Analysis" at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, January 10, 2005. Professor Datta is an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer and was elected to IEEE Fellow in 2000.

On this trip, Professor Datta also visited the Indian National Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), home of the Indian High-performance Computer, PARAM PADMA, in Pune, India. He was invited by the Director of this center to discuss the possibility of developing an Indo-American research collaboration on super computing and its applications to control and vibration engineering. Professor Datta also delivered colloquium talks at this center on his interdisciplinary research blending scientific computing with these areas of engineering.
