Math 101 - Core Competency in Mathematics
What are the required materials for this course?
What you need for this class:
- The book: Mathematical Thinking and Quantitative Reasoning, 4th edition,
by Sons, Nicholls and Stephen. It is loose leaf and fits best in a 1 1/2"
binder.
- A calculator: You don't need a fancy calculator for 101 - I recommend
a Texas Instruments 30 series calcultor (TI-34, TI-36, etc.),
in particular, the TI-30X IIS is commonly used in this course.
If you have one that does powers, roots and parenthesis then you'll be
ok. A STAT feature is valuable for the course.
